The PhD Card Issue PDF Print E-mail

Dear all,

Information about the PhD card and student card is slowly becoming available. In this e-mail we are providing you with the latest information that Grasp has received. We will keep you up to date on further developments as information becomes available...

Some history: the university has switched to a new administration system for students. Bursary PhDs used to be registered in the same system as undergraduate/Master students. However, this is not possible in the new system. For this reason, the university is now working on a new system for the registration of *all* PhD students.

As a result of this change, the separate 'PhD card' will not be offered anymore. As a substitute all PhDs will get a PhD card provided by the RuG, bringing an end to the two-card system. The current estimated time of arrival for the cards is November 2009, and the cards will be sent automatically to all PhDs. You do not have to request/order the student card to get it, and since the 'PhD card' does not exist anymore, it cannot be ordered.

This situation may pose a problem for those who want to register with the ACLO or use the University Library. In the meanwhile, bursaries can get a proof of enrollment from their Graduate School (probably non-national) to register with the ACLO and to get access to their library account.

With kind regards, Grasp
