Rights & Duties PDF Print E-mail

According to the different categories of PhDs the university elaborated a document which gives an overview over the rights and duties of PhD students. In this document, you can find information concerning your PhD such as salary, duration of contract etc., but also information concerning issues outside the university such as taxation, health insurance and others. Here you can download this document as a pdf-file in English or Dutch.

In order to have a quick overview over the rights & duties of the different categories of PhDs you can also have a look at the presentation of the info evening which Grasp gave in June 2007

In order to finally receive your PhD certificate, however, you also have to fulfill several official criteria the university asks of you. These criteria have been written down by the university and been published online. These so-called "regulations for the conferral of a doctorate" contain simple facts like what qualification (certificates) you have to have, but also more complicated stuff like whom you can select to be your promoter.

In general it is very advisable to read these regulations since they do not only show your duties, but also your rights. For example you may chose your promoter and you do not neccessarily have to publish articles for your thesis.

If you want to know learn more about the regulations, you can find them here.
